About us

We created Doppi Tour to inspire adventure, promote culture, benefit local communities, and together create an experience every adventurous world traveler will remember.

True Story:

We’re world travelers.

Culture lovers. Speakers of English, Uzbek, French, Turkish, and Russian among other languages.

We’re from all over the world, and we think it’s pretty cool that we’ve worked all over the world, too. You could say that our collective experience in cultures outside of our home cultures is extensive – we love living on the road!

But we’ve got to tell you that when we first visited Uzbekistan, it was different! This place is truly an undiscovered gem and we want to share it with you!

Why?

Well, first off, even if you’ve seen a lot of places in the world, you haven’t seen Uzbekistan. It’s a world of its own. The history. The culture. The people. No other place on the planet has the unique mix of architecture, beauty, history that goes back thousands of years, and future potential. We love that uniqueness.

Second, Uzbekistan is a land of hospitality where you can expect the unexpected. Like an invitation into an Uzbek’s home where you’ll be offered fresh, seasonal fruit and sip steaming cups of hot tea. Or a parade marching down the street in the middle of the week. A baker along the road pulling hot bread from an oven and offering you some as you meander. Warm, welcoming land of hospitality… it’s a joy to live and visit here.

Third, you might say we’re cross cultural nomads. We’ve wandered across a world of landscapes and settled here in this beautiful country. We’re committed to putting down roots in this country that is so unique, warm and welcoming, and different from others we’ve known. We love bridging the gap between our home cultures and local life. And getting to connect others to Uzbek culture is THE best!

Put all that together, and you’ve got a little glimpse of who we are. Oh, and one more thing… We believe Uzbekistan is the secret gem of the Silk Road! And we can’t wait to help you discover and experience Uzbekistan for yourself!

Why Doppi?

The doppi (pronounced doe-puh) is the traditional Uzbek hat, worn by both men and women. This embroidered fabric skullcap can have varying designs and styles, but it’s intrinsic to Uzbek culture. Men’s doppis are typically black with white embroidery, usually four peppers (“kalimpers”) in a circular fashion around the top. Women’s doppis are much more colorful, usually embroidered in several bright colors with patterns of fruit, flowers, and birds.

As our company brings tourists directly into Uzbek culture, we chose something as traditional as their national hat to represent who we are!

"From Tashkent to Bukhara, to Samarkand, Doppi Tour did a phenomenal job in helping me see the beauty of the country whether it be the food, culture, or people. They work efficiently, know the places well, and know how to have fun!"
